Chance
Et spekulativt kammerspill om Marias valg, inspirert av Simone Weils tanker om tilfeldighet og determinisme.
Undersøkelsen av de etiske og metafysiske muligheter tilstede i Marias liv og skjebne vil gis en performativ, rituell ramme: en abortnemd. Vi plasserer Maria på tiltalebenken, i juryen plasserer vi teologer, feminister og kunstnere. Vi stiller oss spørsmålene: I hvilken grad har Maria fri vilje? I hvilken grad har hun rett til å råde over egen kropp og skjebne? I hvilken grad har Maria et metafysisk ansvar ovenfor Gud? Hva hender om vi sammenstiller de to paradigmer: dagens etikk og teologisk ansvarstenkning?
I fortellingen om skapelsen av menneskesønnen Jesus gjøres Maria til et vertsdyr for Gud. Dette (eventuelle) misforhold, mellom kvinne og guddom, manifesteres gjennom hele vår kulturs historie. Er det mulig, via åpenlys, spekulativ tenkning, å forestille oss et annet grunnpremiss for denne kjernefortelling i vår historie? At vi i fellesskap, på utopisk vis, undersøker Marias mulighetshorisont.

Performancen er laget for MMMMM Alone (of all her sex) – en installasjon og kuratert program av Petrine Vinje, for Universitetet i Oslo. Kunstprosjektet er en del av det interdisiplinære forskningsprosjektet The Power of Motifs, ledet at PhD. Karoline Kjesrud, ved Institutt for lingvistiske og nordiske studier, HF, UiO. Prosjektet er bl.a støttet av KORO/ URO, Forskningsrådet og Norsk Kulturråd.
Visning 29. september- kl 18-22. Performancen vil skje i Petrine Vinjes skulptur MMMMM Alone (of all her sex), i parken ved siden av Sophus Bugges hus (Niels Henrik Abels vei, 36, Oslo), Blinderns Campus / Universitetet i Oslo.

MMMMM… ALONE (OF ALL HER SEX)
The installation MMMMM…Alone (of all her sex) will serve as a platform for discussions, talks and new artworks open for interaction with the public. It will feature visual and audible artworks, performances, readings, a collection of texts in a publication, lectures and talks all within a temporary installation in public space constructed on the premises of University of Oslo, Campus Blindern. MMMMM…Alone (of all her sex) aims to bring visitors into contact with the notions and view on the female as creator and political being, in opposition to the narrow understanding of the symbol Virgin Mary as a mother and virgin. The concept, installation and continuing programme are conducted by artist Petrine Vinje.
CONTRIBUTIONS BY 11 ARTISTS, PERFORMERS AND POETS
A unique publication will follow the two projects, in which; artists and thinkers contribute with texts, excerpts and images in an exploration of Marian motifs, found in the rather unknown Old Norse Maríu-saga, sculptural works from early Christian culture in Norway, and contemporary works on feminism and female imagery.
A live program will accompany the installation and book, featuring performative and discursive events hosted at the University of Oslo. The continuing program will include artists Sofia Jernberg/ Ole Henrik Moe, Kari Rønnekleiv, Gyrid Gunnes, Torild Wardenær, Aina Villanger, Prerna Bishnoi/ Sindhu Thirumalaisamy, Liv Kristin Holmberg, Daniel Slåttnes/ Sara Rönnback, Jan Erik Rekdal, Marthe Ramm Fortun and Petrine Vinje.
